Installing Swift Boxes at St Rumon

Wildlife Groundswell have installed nine swift nest boxes in the North-East and North-West windows of St Rumon church.

Unlike swallows and house martins, swifts make hardly any mess… so there will not be any white guano deposits to discolour the external stonework!

The first task was for a small team of volunteers to remove the mess from many years of accumulated jackdaw nests: sticks, feathers, guano, dust, old sunglasses, plastic flowers, silver paper…
