HELP SUPPORT OUR CROWDFUNDER

Exciting news! We have now launched our Crowdfunder to raise money for the important work we are doing to restore and protect nature across the Lizard! We will be using this funding to expand vital conservation projects —restoring habitats, protecting wildlife, and connecting communities with nature.

Thanks to Aviva Community Fund match funding, every £1 you donate will be matched up to £250 per unique supporter. Plus, with the Cornwall Council Climate and Nature Fund, if we raise half our target, they’ll fund the rest—doubling your impact!

EAT The Lizard – community survey

The Lizard has an abundance of food grown, reared, produced or caught here. But most of it is transported off the peninsula to be sold elsewhere. At the same time, most people drive to the supermarkets in Helston to shop – buying food produced and shipped in from all over the UK and the world.

Very few farmers on The Lizard grow food that is sold locally. Most of it is sold to either supermarkets or companies who supply supermarkets. This puts pressure on the farmers, as they're forced into selling for lower prices that can make it hard to cover their costs of production, as well as increasing food miles and the associated fuel costs, packaging, carbon footprint and inefficiency.

Through Wildlife Groundswell, a few local people are keen to see if we can do anything about this – and if there's local appetite for easier ways to buy directly from farmers, growers, fishers and other local food producers, while maintaining or increasing existing trade in The Lizard's local shops.

We'd like to arrange a community gathering to discuss how this might happen, in a way that works for our communities and food producers.

We'd be grateful if you can answer this short survey to help us gauge the level of interest in taking this forward.

It will take you less than 5 minutes 😁Please follow this link to complete the survey https://forms.gle/BwM7uyZv5UPh47HSA

Wildlife Groundswell is proud to be a nonprofit partner of 1% for the Planet, a global network of businesses, non-profits, and individuals working together to improve the health of our planet.

1% for the Planet connects donors – businesses that wish to help make positive environmental change – and doers – the non-profit organisations making change happen, like Wildlife Groundswell. As members of 1% for the Planet, businesses donate 1% of their annual sales to the non-profits that they choose to support.

Through these partnerships, 1% for the Planet has donated $150 million to environmental non-profits since its founding in 2002. Wildlife Groundswell currently has five business partners through 1% for the Planet: Patagonia, Pingala, Skinny Pancake, Bluestone Life, and The Green Life.
